Within the conversations of climate change and activism the central focus has always tended to be just that. Climate change. When looking at that alone we can say it's a noble thing to be speaking about and even more so acting on to help, but what I don’t see as often is conversations about the effect these conversations have on young people and the long term effects. This isn't relatively brand new but it’s new enough within media and internet discourse that we are just about seeing the negative effects it's having on the mental health of everyone but especially young kids and adults mostly. This is important as the ways that we build ourselves to be and function emotionally under things such as climate grief at a young developing age, will affect us long term, thus it's imperative to open up a floor in which new discussion can appear alongside the discussions of climate change- because it’s all connected and it all will effect the outcome of this world. Because what is a saved world with people inside it who have yet to be saved themselves?

So for my final project in Climate Anxiety, Grief, and Resilience I have chosen to create a podcast. I wanted to use this format because some of the best ways I have been able to connect to people is through conversation and connection through verbal communication and listening. A big part of my career and future career in general is doing just that, being able to listen and speak and grow from there while making sure a space is open enough for another person to have room to think, comprehend, and grow. As for audience, as mentioned above this is targeted towards young kids and adults, target demographic of age being between ten to thirty, but can be transferable and applicable to every single age range, I just leaned my focus more within that group as I currently reside in it and have more confidence understanding those age ranges more. My central purpose is to open a space for people to simply sit and reside in reflection with themselves. And upon choosing to do so, if they would like, they are also given the opportunity to problem solve within their own lives with prompts and advice pieces given within the podcast that target how to evolve from a state of grief and anxiety. My plan is not to just serve advice and leave, but to give the tools needed to build oneself on their own under their own unique positions and circumstances. Because healing isn't linear and cut and dry, it's helpful to get input of what to do but in the long run for future involvement within self, one must be given the insight to just understand themselves and their options enough to make their own curated decisions.
